Aarons, Jonas

Staatsburg- Jonas Aarons, 79, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2010 at
the Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY.  Born June 4, 1931 in New York, NY, he
was the son of the late Morris and Gussie (Cohen) Aarons.

He was a graduate of New York University, and graduated from the NYU School
of Law in 1956. In 1959, he retired as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force.

Mr. Aarons was one of America’s preeminent Labor Arbitrators, and owned Jo
Aarons Gallery in Rhinebeck for 26 years. A proud member of the Dutchess
County Democratic party, he was also involved in the Rhinebeck Choral Club.
He was an active member of the Lotos Club and the National Academy of
Arbitrators.

He is survived by three daughters, Georgia Aarons and her fiancé Hollister
Scholte of New York, NY; Morra Aarons- Mele and her husband Nicco of
Medford, MA; Gaby Eisele and her husband Michael of the United Kingdom;
three grandchildren, Asa, Lucas and Raphael; and his former spouse, Pamela
Aarons of Miami, FL.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in
Rhinebeck, NY.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 3PM at
the Pleasant Plains Presbyterian Church, 246 Hollow Rd., Staatsburg, NY,
Rabbi Jonathan Kliegler officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant
Plains Rural Cemetery in Staatsburg, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National
Yiddish Book Center, 1021 West St., Amherst, MA 01001, or to the Multiple
Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
