Brooks, A. Jayne
Rhinebeck - A. Jayne (Heinley) Brooks
Jayne was called home on March 17, 2008, in time for a front row seat
at the Resurrection.
A graduate of Keuka College, Jayne was an organizer from day one. She
was the Grand Worthy Advisor of New York State, International Order
of Rainbow for Girls, 1955, and owner of the former Recycled Reading
bookstore. She loved to locate that one-of-a-kind title her customers
were looking for. Her bookstores were better organized than many libraries
and everything deserved a list.
Jayne was quick to volunteer and always put others before herself. Everyone
was important and she always made you feel special. A member of Church
of the Messiah in Rhinebeck, she was active as a lay chaplain and a
leader for many outreach programs. She was co-organizer of the Cuddle
Blankets group which made thousands of quilts for Ramapo for Children.
Her final wish is the charities most recently important to her continue
in perpetuity.
Jayne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Channez Peck and
Ira Heinley, of Syracuse, NY. She is survived by her loving husband
and partner The Rev. Deacon Robert Brooks of Hyde Park; her sister Patricia
Doris of Skaneateles, NY; son Ken Young of Murphy, Texas; four daughters,
Kim Smith of West Park, Katrina Emerick of Hyde Park, The Rev. Amy Brooks,
of Huntersville, NC, Pam Clarkson of Asheville, NC; and nine grandchildren
Anthony, Kelsey, Alex, Benjamin, Tyler, Jeffrey, Rebecca, Hannah, and
Matthew. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was faithful
in her service to others and will be deeply missed.
A celebration will be held at Church of the Messiah, Rhinebeck, NY at
4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24 followed by the entombment in the Columbarium.
There will be a reception with friends and family after the service
in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Ramapo for Children,
PO Box 266, Rhinebeck, NY 12572, or Cuddle Blankets, Church of the Messiah,
