Cotting, Janet L.

Rhinebeck- Janet L. Cotting, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Rhinebeck on Monday, March 15, 2010.

Mrs. Cotting was a lifelong Rhinebeck resident; she was a graduate of the Rhinebeck High School class of 1945 and the Krissler Business Institute, Poughkeepsie.  For over 50 years she worked as legal secretary to Benson R. Frost, Jr.   Following the death of Benson and Barbara Frost she served as a member of the Frost Memorial Fund, Inc.

She was a lifelong active member of the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church; and a life member of the Montgomery Post #429 American Legion Auxiliary and the Rhinecliff Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

Born January 15, 1928, in Rhinebeck, she was the daughter of James R. and Lula N. (White) Stone, Sr.

She married Gordon H. Cotting on October 16, 1948 at the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, Rhinebeck.  Mr. Cotting passed away January 12, 1986.

Mrs. Cotting is survived by her daughter Sandra L, and her husband Edward Kane, of Rhinebeck; her son William F., and his wife Cheri Cotting of Rhinecliff; five grandchildren, Meghan A. and Peter T. Kane, Daniel G. Cotting, Aimori Brown and Brandi Lee; three great grandchildren Brittani Lee, Makenzi Brown and Gillian Rose.  Also surviving are her brother James R., and his wife Evelyn Stone, Jr.; two sisters Irene, and her husband Norman Callaghan, and Dolores, and her husband Anthony Putorti; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.  Members of the American Legion Auxiliary will conduct services at 7 PM; and members of the Rhinecliff Ladies Auxiliary at 7:15 PM.   Funeral services are Friday, 11 AM, at the Funeral Home.  Interment will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, Rhinebeck.
