popularity of cremation as a final manner of disposition has continued
to grow in the United States for the past 30 years. Although most choose
to honor a life with calling hours and a funeral service prior to cremation,
many families choose the option for a memorial service following cremation,
and a few choose immediate cremation. Cremation, in the past and still
today, has been selected as a less expensive choice to burial. From
the beginning, most funeral service providers have provided this service
at a cost far below actual expense, relying on families who choose burial
to cover the losses. Today cremation costs remain one-third to one-half
