Dedrick, Raymond P.

Rhinecliff - Raymond P. 'Sonny' Dedrick, 91, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Northern Dutchess Hospital .

Sonny was a lifelong Rhinecliff resident; as well as a 69 year member and commissioner of the Rhinecliff Fire Company, and a longtime member of the American Legion Montgomery Post #429.

He was a graduate Germantown High School and had worked as a Department Manager for IBM, Kingston, until his retirement in 1975.

Sonny served as a First Sergeant in the US Army 607th Signal Aircraft Warning Company during WW II.

Born May 25, 1917 in Rhinecliff, he was the son of Raymond T. and Isabelle (Holsapple) Dedrick.

On July 9, 1942 in Bangor , ME , he married Helen E. Johnson. Mrs. Dedrick passed away September 3, 1986.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Dedrick of Brisbane, Australia , three granddaughters Lenore VanDemark and Jennifer Philipson of Littleton, CO, and Lisa McMillan of Rhinebeck; two nephews, Carl and Michael Johnson, and four great grandchildren

He was predeceased by a son William Dedrick, and a sister Dorothy Forsman.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 6 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Members of the Rhinecliff Fire Company will conduct services at 7:00 PM, and members of the American Legion Post #429 will conduct services at 7:30.

Funeral services are Wednesday, 10 AM, at the Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
