Ellis, James Joseph

Red Hook James Joseph Ellis, 64, of Red Hook, passed away Wednesday,
January 30, 2008, at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck.

Mr. Ellis was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and was a member
of Local 21 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. For 30 years he worked
on many projects at IBM, including the clean rooms for silicon chips,
as a General Forman and Forman for CB Strain of Poughkeepsie.

He was an Airman in the US Naval Reserves and during his two years of
active service he had a tour in Sicily, was stationed in Brunswick,
ME, and flew photographic missions over Guantanamo during the Cuban
Missile Crisis.

Mr. Ellis was a active member, and had served on the vestry, of Christ
Episcopal Church, Red Hook.

Born March 6, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of James Francis
and Rita (Dolan) Ellis.

Survivors include his wife Susan Hoffman Ellis whom he married in
1967; a daughter Jennifer Lynn Ellis and her husband John Scollo
of Briton, CO; two brothers Robert Ellis of Saugerties and William
Ellis of Milton, MA; four nephews, Brian, Shaun, Dean and Zachary
Ellis; a great nephew; and three brothers-in-law Roger , Jonathan and
David Hoffman and their families.

Calling hours are Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney
Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St. Rhinebeck.

Funeral services are Saturday, 11 AM, at Christ Episcopal Church, Red
Hook. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, S.
Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571, or the American Cancer Society, 45
Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral
Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY.
