Elwell, John G.

Rhinebeck - John G. Elwell, 68, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Thomspon
House, Rhinebeck.

John served in the US Navy for two years; following his honorable discharge he began
working at the Wingdale State Hospital. After two years he began working for the
Dutchess County Highway Department and retired in 1995 after 40 years with the department.

He was also an accomplished drummer and played in a local country band.

Born February 6, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Edward and Margaret (Lowens)
Elwell.

With love and dedication John was cared for by his wife Joyce, his daughter Allison
Elwell, his son Charlie Amidon, Jr., and his brother Bob Elwell.

In addition, John is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
two brothers Charles and Edward and two sisters Ethel and Sylvia.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
