Griffin, 58, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Northern Dutchess
Hospital
Sid worked 25 years as a
fire and security system specialist for Nichols Oxygen of Hyde Park
and was a member of the International Electrical Union Local #363, Poughkeepsie,
working in the local area.
He was a member since 1995,
and served as master in 1998, of the Rhinebeck Lodge #432 F.&A.M;
as well as a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Masons
in the Valley of Albany and the Cyprus Shriners of Glenmont, NY. Sid
was a passionate hunter and fisherman, and was currently serving as
president of the Northern Dutchess Rod & Gun Club and worked the
Wildlife Exhibit at the Dutchess county Fair for over 30 years. Sid
also served several years as leader of the Christian Service Brigade
with the First Baptist Church
Sid served in the US Navy
as a Nuclear Power Operator on the Submarines.
Born July 4, 1953 in Peekskill,
NY he was the son of John and Ruth (Lind) Griffin of Margaretville.
In addition to his parents,
Sid is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debra (Doyle) Griffin of Red
Hook; his children Kristin Griffin of Red Hook, Jason Picucci of Red
Hook and Jessica Picucci of Clermont; a sister Linda Dubois, and her
husband Brian of Germantown; a brother Craig, and his wife Darlene of
Red Hook; four grandchildren with whom he enjoyed spending time and
with whom he was very close, Sydney, Tyler, Cody and Isabelle; and several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday,
January 18th, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home,
51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Members of the Rhinebeck Lodge #432 will
conduct services at 7:30 PM. Funeral services are Thursday, 11 AM, at
the Funeral Home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Sid was loved dearly by his
family and friends and could always be counted on for help, and will
be deeply missed.
