Grim, Nancy H.

Rhinebeck-Nancy H. Grim, 88, a longtime resident of Rhinebeck, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 11, 1923 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Donald B. and Gladys (Herrick) Harrington.

Mrs. Grim received her Master’s degree in Education from Cornell University. She worked as a guidance counselor for the Kingston City School District.

She honorably served her country in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946, and received her private pilot’s license in 1947.

On February 20, 1946 in Chapel Hill, NC, she married John S. Grim. He predeceased her on January 27, 2004.

She was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Wurtemburg for over sixty years, and a member of the American Legion Montgomery Post #429.

Nancy had a love of traveling, and took numerous trips with her husband and grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Steven and Joan Grim ; Polly and Ron Grimm; Peter and Jill Grim ; Priscilla and Paul Lagno  ; and thirteen  grandchildren; two great grandchildren; dear friends Nina and Dan Dwyer and their three children ; two sisters, Marcia Adams  and Donna Gerber ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Nancy was predeceased by a sister, Suzanne Sleeper.

A Memorial service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Wurtemburg in Rhinebeck, with Rev. Mark Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow in the Wurtemburg Cemetery.
