
Kenney, Marie P.
Rhinebeck-Marie P. Kenney,
94, a resident of the Terraces at Brookmeade for the past fifteen months,
passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at the Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Since moving to Rhinebeck
in 1974, Marie has been very active in the community as a member of
the Good Shepherd Church, Montgomery Post #429 Auxiliary, Rhinebeck
AARP and the Lutheran Braille Group. She also worked on the Senior Proms
since the beginning and enjoyed exercise classes at the American Legion.
Marie was the Secretary at
the former Rhinecliff Union Free School on the Holy Cross campus; she
was so respected there that a scholarship was established in her name,
the scholarship was transferred to the Rhinebeck High School and is
awarded to a graduating senior.
Born May 25, 1917 in Somerville,
MA, she was the daughter of Michael M. and Anna A. (Flanagan) Jordan.
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene R. Kenney and five brothers
and one sister.
Marie is survived by her
children, Robert, and his wife Kathleen Kenney of Georgia; Maureen Kenney
of Port Ewen; Kevin, and his wife Shelly Kenney of Rhinebeck; and Brian
Kenney, and his wife Kathy Stone of Scotia, NY; eight grandchildren,
five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday,
January 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral
Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY. Members of the American Legion
Auxiliary will conduct services at 7:15, and prayers will be offered
at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Good
Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck. Following the Mass, friends
are invited to join the family at the American Legion Post #429, 6361
Mill St., Rhinebeck, for continued fellowship.
Interment will be held on
Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Staten
Island.
