
Lapide, Josephine
Rhinebeck – Josephine Lapide, 94, passed away Thursday,January
26, 2012 at the Thompson House, Rhinebeck .
Josephine worked for 49 years as a seamstress in the garment industry
and was a member of the International Lady Garment Workers Union.
Josephine was a longtime active member of the Rhinebeck community.
She worked over 8000 hours at the Northern Dutchess Hospital Thrift
Shop during her 14 years of volunteering. As a result, Josephine received
the Presidential Award for Volunteering from NDH; and was awarded Senior
of the Year in Rhinebeck. She was also a member of the Northern Dutchess
Hospital Auxiliary, the Friendship Club and the Women’s Society
of Good Shepherd Church. She will be remembered by her family and friends
as a role model who always gave 150 percent of herself.
Born October 1, 1917, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Antonio
and Grazia (Fumusa) Piccione.
Her husband Frank passed away in 1981.
Josephine is survived by her four children; Caroline ‘Carol’
D’Aoust, and her husband Richard of Red Hook; Grace Cangelosi,
and her husband Paul of Franklin Square, NY; Lawrence ‘ Larry’
Lapide, and his wife Betty of Boston, MA; and Jean Manoyan, and her
husband Alan of Summerville, SC In addition , she is survived by nine
cherished grandchildren, Richard (Jacqueline) D’Aoust, Renée
(Chris) Schule, James (Jaime) Rapuzzi, Frank (Gina) Rapuzzi, Donna (Bart)
Salomone, Dr. Elissa (Dr. Dan Fein) Lapide, Rebecca Lapide, Shane Clark
and Carissa (Keith) Supry; and 13 great grandchildren, Devon, Trevor,
Kaiden, Alicia, Logan, Christopher, Jack, Maggie, Paul, Olivia, Sara,
James and Jolie; one sister Catherine Gallina and a sister-in law Sadie
Piccione; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother Michael Piccione.
Calling hours are private.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated , 11 AM, Monday, at the
Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck, NY, Interment will
follow at 1 PM St. Joseph Cemetery, Rhinecliff.
The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd/Fr. Brogan Center
for light refreshment after the Mass and then proceed to the cemetery
for Burial
Memorial donations may be made to the NDH Thrift Store, 6511 Springbrook
Ave., Rhinebeck, NY 12572 , in honor of Josephine’s 14 years of
dedicated service.
