Rhinebeck
- Robert L. LeHane, age 79, passed away Wednesday evening at his home
in Rhinebeck.
Born April 3, 1928
in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Danaher) LeHane.
He served in the
United States Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force 1946-1949.
In 1954, Bob graduated
from the University of Notre Dame and worked for 38 years as an Electrical
Engineer, Senior Manager, and Industrial Fellow for IBM, retiring in
1991.
On September 15,
1962 he married K. Ann Hackett in Montreal, Canada.
In addition to his
wife Ann of Rhinebeck, Bob is lovingly remembered by his six children
(Commander Katharine Reed, US Navy, and her husband Brian of Alexandria,
VA; Maura L.Walsh, and her husband Michael of Fairport, NY; Margaret
Sybil Cerbone, and her husband Mark of Rhinebeck, NY; Robert L. LeHane,
Jr. and his wife Candece of Pearl River, NY; Edward Ryan LeHane, and
his wife Susan Reilly-LeHane of Brooklyn, NY; and John Winfield LeHane,
and his wife Melissa of Rhinebeck); his nine grandchildren, (Connor
& Brody Walsh, Brianna Reed, Rianna , Emily & Bobby LeHane,
Riley, Greta, & Henry LeHane); his brother Edward Lehane and wife
Marilyn of Westmoreland, NH; and three sisters: Kathleen and her husband
Jim Rafferty of South Windsor, CT; Nora and her husband JoeWillis of
Ellington, CT; and Carol Randall of Upper Darby, PA; as well as many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by two of his sisters, Margaret Douville and Virginia LeHane.
Bob resided for
36 years in Lagrangeville and was a member and Eucharistic Minister
of St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church. A devoted parishioner,
he created and taught continuing Christian education for teens.
In addition to being
a charter member of St. Martin de Porres Knights of Columbus Council
#7551 and the 4th Degree Assembly, he was also a past Grand Knight of
St. Martin de Porres.
Bob was a member
of the Arlington American Legion, the Hudson Valley Chapter of the University
of Notre Dame Club, previous board member of the Astor Home for Children,
as well as a volunteer for Dutchess County Hospice.
Calling hours are
Monday, March 24, 2008, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney
Funeral Home, 51 West Market St., Rhinebeck, NY. Members of the Knights
of Columbus will serve Honor Guard and offer prayers during the evening
prayer service at 7:30 PM, Monday.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 26, 2008, 10:00 AM, at Good
Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck.
Interment will be
in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Rhinecliff,
