
Lutz, Arthur J.
Rhinebeck – Arthur J. “Whitey” Lutz, 84, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008, at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lutz moved to Rhinebeck from Flushing in 1966. He owned and operated Artie’s German American Restaurant in Rhinebeck for 18 years. Following the sale of the restaurant he worked as a limousine driver and for Jamesway in Rhinebeck.
He served in the US Army Air corps during WW II and the Korean War. He was a former member of the Red Hook Rod and Gun Club and the Rhinebeck-Red Hook Elks Lodge #2022.
Mr. Lutz was a model train enthusiast; fan of the New York Yankees and Giants; and enjoyed gardening, reading, hunting and fishing.
Born November 29, 1923 in Germany, he was the son of Joseph and Margareta (Koneger) Lutz.
On April 29, 1962 in Queens he married Audrey Marie Permoda.
In addition to his wife of Rhinebeck, Mr. Lutz is survived by a daughter Linda Lutz, and her fiancé Russell Travis of Modena, NY; a son Lt. Robert Lutz, US Navy, and his wife Hilary of Yorktown, VA; two grandsons Joshua and Jeremy Lutz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 AM, at St. Christopher’s Church, S. Broadway, Red Hook. Interment will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
