Funeral Director
Christopher W. Chestney
has resided in Rhinebeck since 1985 when he and his father, Gerald Chestney
(1935-2016) of Pine Plains, purchased the Dapson Funeral Home, Inc. from Donald
and Barbara Dapson. A graduate of Pine Plains Central Schools, Chris prepared
for his entrance in the Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, New York,
at the State University at Plattsburgh. He and his wife Carol currently reside
in Carol's childhood home in Rhinebeck. They have three children, Samantha,
Matthew and Andrew
Having been raised in a
family with a father in funeral service and a school teaching mother, Elizabeth,
Chris understands the need and personal satisfaction of community service. He
has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Starr Library, the
Board of the Thompson House, and the Baptist Home. He has been an active member
of the Rhinebeck Lions Club for over 30 years, and serves as chairman of the
Lions Community Thanksgiving Feast and the Lions Youth Basketball program. In
addition, he has served as Vice President of The Rhinebeck Chamber of Commerce,
and as Master of the Rhinebeck Masonic Lodge.
Presently Chris also service as a trustee of the Frost Memorial Fund,
Inc., as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Rhinebeck Bank; and as a member of the Dutchess County
Agricultural Society.
Chris has renewed his
lifelong passion for tennis and enjoys playing golf at the Red Hook Golf Club,
often with his wife Carol. They also
enjoy skiing in Vermont.

Funeral Director
Carra Bartles joined the staff in 2014 and is the current Resident Manager of Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck, NY. After graduating from Rhinebeck High School she attended SUNY Buffalo State College, receiving a BA in Biology before entering the Hudson Valley Community College Mortuary Program. After serving her residency with Peck and Peck Funeral Homes, Inc., she joined the full time staff at Dapson-Chestney and returned to Rhinebeck in 2015.
Carra is an active Rhinebeck Rotary Member and plays softball on the Woman’s Northern Dutchess Softball League as well as being a member of Rhinebeck Responds. She is also involved in missionary work overseas as well as global humanitarian initiatives.
