Quackenbush, Carole Frances

Rhinebeck - Carole Frances Quackenbush, 72, passed away Saturday, May, 22, 2010 after a
brief illness, at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck, NY.

Born October 10, 1937 in Troy, she was the daughter of Francis and Emma (Krakat) Belonga.
On July 16, 1960 she married Donald C. Quackenbush at St. Patrick's Church, Watervliet,
NY

Mrs. Quackenbush was a graduate of Watervliet City Schools and attended the Troy
Conservatory of Music, where she played the piano. She attended the College of St. Rose
in Albany, NY, where she received a Bachelors Degree in English and Spanish. Later, she
earned a Masters Degree in reading from SUNY New Paltz. Several of her research articles
on the subject have been published. For many years until her retirement in 2002 she was
a High School English Teacher in the Germantown Central Schools. Throughout her career
she was a class advisor, director of the school play and chaperone for the school trips
to Spain. An avid theatre enthusiast, she organized student trips to experience Broadway
shows. She was listed in the Who's Who of American Teachers.

Mrs. Quackenbush has been a Rhinebeck resident since 1960 and was a member of the PTA, as
a room mother and as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was very involved with her four
children and their activities and interests. Carole enjoyed many hobbies including
ceramics, reading, sewing and musical appreciation. Carole loved to travel and looked
forward to her annual summer vacations with her family on Cape Cod.

Mrs. Quackenbush is survived by her husband Donald of Rhinebeck; her children, Christine
Quackenbush of Greenwich, CT; Cathryn Quackenbush Moore, her husband Peter and their
children Sophie, Patrick and Dan of Granite Springs, NY; Donald F. Quackenbush of Poland,
OH; and James A. Quackenbush, and his wife Denise and their children Emma and James of
Bayside, NY.

Calling hours are Tuesday, 5 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market
St., Rhinebeck. Funeral services are Wednesday, 11:00 AM, at the Funeral Home.
Cremation and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
