Reynolds, Joan Gale

Joan Gale Reynolds, 81, died peacefully after a lengthy illness in Rhinebeck, NY on January 31, 2010.

Joanie lived with a spirit of adventure, filled by great kindness, humor and grace, and devotion to her family.

With the late Dr. Francis MacDonald of Concord she re-established the Concord Minutemen in authentic period equipment and clothes in preparation for the town’s bicentennial celebration in 1975 of the start of the Revolutionary War.

She is survived by her husband Edward (Ted) Reynolds of Rhinebeck, but both formerly of Concord, MA, New York City and Cape Charles, VA.  She will be missed by the loving families of her four sons: Edward (Ned) of Redding, CT; Peter W. and James L., both of Stone Ridge, NY; and Joseph W. of Cumberland, ME; and nine grandchildren aged 27 to 1.  Joanie is survived by her two brothers and their families: Justin E. Gale of Annisquam, MA and Dr. James L. Gale of Seattle, WA.

A Memorial Service will be held May 1, 2010, 3:00PM, at the First Parish Church, 20 Lexington Rd. Concord, MA (www.firstparish.org - 978-369-9602). The Very Rev. James Parks Morton will preside. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Village Church in Annisquam, MA 01930 or the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, Saugerties, NY 12477.
