
Rincon, Jose D.
Jose del Carmen Rincon, 85,
a resident of Rhinebeck, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January
24th.
Jose was born on July 15,
1926 in Duitama, Colombia. He was an accomplished guitar player, taking
delight in performing both classical and folk music. Jose loved languages,
appreciated art and was blessed with a keen sense of humor. Jose was
a deeply spiritual man, blessed with an unfailing Christian faith nurtured
in youth as a seminarian in Tunja.
In 1950, Jose married Elvira
Ortiz in Bogota Colombia. Early in life, he worked in finance, operations,
and as an educator in Bogota, Colombia. Jose moved his family to the
US in 1969, settling in New York City. After 22 years of service, he
retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. and moved to the village of Rhinebeck,
New York in 1998.
He is survived by his beloved
wife of 61 years, Elvira and six children: Margarita Rincon of St. Cergues,
France; Olga Maria Rodriguez of Rhinebeck, Dr. Mariana Rincon of Milwaukee,
Juan Carlos Rincon and his wife Seta of Charlotte, Tomas Eduardo Rincon
of Chicago, and Helena and her husband Bryan Kohl of New York City.
He is predeceased by his son Jose Javier Rincon, and son-in-law Julio
Augusto Rodriquez.
Jose was a doting grandfather
to fourteen grandchildren: German Augusto and Lisa Rodriguez, Ana Carolina
Rodriguez and Jake Cirell, Barbara Rodriguez, Isabel Rodriguez, Natalia
Rodriguez, Kristina Rincon, Michael Alexander Rincon, Joseph Anthony
Rincon, Preston Tomas Nevil-Rincon, Luam Gibrani Rincon, Belén
Kohl; Christian Janda and five great-grandchildren: Isabella, Antonio,
Domenic, Luna, and Julio.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated Friday at 1pm at the Good Shepherd Church, 3 Mulberry
St., Rhinebeck.
