Christopher
W. Chestney has resided in Rhinebeck since 1985 when he and his
father, Gerald Chestney of Pine Plains, purchased the Dapson Funeral
Home, Inc. from Donald and Barbara Dapson. A graduate of Pine
Plains Central Schools, Chris prepared for his entrance in the
Simmons School of Mortuary Science, Syracuse, New York, at the
State University at Plattsburgh. He and his wife currently reside
with their three children, Samantha, Matthew and Andrew in the
childhood home of Carol.
Having been raised in a family with
a father in funeral service and a school teaching mother, Chris
understands the need and personal satisfaction with community
service. He has served as President of the Board of Directors
of the Starr Library, and currently serves on the Board of the
Thompson House. He has been an active member of the Rhinebeck
Lions Club for over 20 years, and serves as chairman of the Lions
Community Thanksgiving Feast and the Lions Journey for Sight committee.
He has served as Vice President of The Rhinebeck Chamber of Commerce,
and as Master of the Rhinebeck Masonic Lodge.
He
and his family also are very active members of their Church Community.
In his capacity as a member of these organizations and when time
has allowed, Chris has worked to raise funds for various community
programs and services. He has been honored to sponsor the Rhinebeck
Little League for many years. Although tennis was his first love
and passion, Chris now is an active golfer and member of the Red
Hook Golf Club. He also enjoys skiing and snowboarding with his
family. "I remain committed to providing the quality of service
my father and our predecessors provided in the entire Northern
Dutchess area; and to maintain a high quality of life in the community
for my children and family to enjoy for years to come."
