Welch, Patrick J.

Tivoli – Patrick J. Welch, 50, passed away peacefully Friday, January 8, 2009, at his home after a long battle with ALS.

Pat was a lifelong resident of the area; he graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 1977 and worked until 2006 as a Carpenter in the Carpenters Union Local #19, Poughkeepsie. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of Neighbors Gun Club, Rhinebeck.

Born October 3, 1959 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Walter Welch: and Janalene (Sheldon) Murray of Rhinebeck.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Burke) Welch of Tivoli, two sons Patrick and Jonathan Welch of Red Hook; Kathy’s children, Steven, Eric and Katie Komenda of Tivoli; two sisters, Anne Welch of Cementon and Marie Welch of Rhinebeck; two brothers Mark Welch of Ballston Spa and Brian Welch of Germantown; two nephews Ethan and Nolan Ekstrom; and a niece Maranda Welch. In addition he is survived by his cousins Scott Rathjen with whom he spent countless hours during his illness, Steven and John Rathjen, Tricia DiGregorio, Tracy Poole, Lisa Oldham and Sarah Harrison.

Calling hours are Tuesday, January 12th, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market ST., Rhinebeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 AM, at the Good Shepherd Church, 96 East Market ST., Rhinebeck.

Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Rhinecliff,
