Rhinebeck – Robert Edward ‘Ed’ Williams, 69, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 1959 and served in the United States Navy on the USS Independence from 1960-1964.
Until his retirement in 2002, he worked as a mechanic for Rhinebeck Chevrolet and Ruge’s.
Born May 23, 1940 in Peekskill, he was the son of Dorothy Lewis Williams Kilmer of Rhinebeck, and the late Robert James Williams.
On June 8, 1968 he married Gretchen Waldron.
Ed is survived by his wife Gretchen of Rhinebeck; a daughter Christie L. Williams of Hudson; a son Kyle E. Williams of Rhinebeck; a granddaughter Emelia G. and Ruth Dazi of Hudson; his mother and step-father Dorothy and John Kilmer of Rhinebeck; a two sisters Deborah Broseman of Port St. Lucy, Fl, and Holly Ireland of Red Hook; a brother Terry S. Kilmer of Red Hook; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday, 6 to 7:30 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. A time of remembrance to celebrate Ed’s life will begin at 7:30 Wednesday evening.
