Alice Gertrude Bennett

Alice Gertrude Bennett, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Renaissance Nursing Home in Hyde Park, New York. Previously, Mrs. Bennett lived in Woodstock and Kingston, New York, Gaithersburg, Maryland, and most recently, Rhinebeck, New York. She enjoyed volunteering at the Kingston Library, was an avid reader, and enjoyed needlecrafts. Mrs. Bennett was an outdoor enthusiast who hiked throughout the Catskill Mountains and once attempted the Appalachian Trail when she was well into her seventies. She also traveled extensively - she loved Paris in particular - and she completed the family genealogy, dating back 15 generations.

Born February 21, 1925 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of J. Raymond and Alice (Howard) Green. She was the sole survivor of her immediate family; among her more recently deceased siblings were Paul Green, Elizabeth Slovan, and Virginia Cash.

Mrs. Bennett was also predeceased by her husband, John J. Bennett; her ex-husband, Charles White; and her two sons, William and Charles White. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Mozur of Alaska; two grandchildren, Sheryl Shyloski and Dean White; several nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday April 19 at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W Market St., Rhinebeck, New York from 10:30 AM to 1 PM. Funeral services are at 1 PM at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
