Doris L. Cacchio, 93, a lifetime resident of Rhinebeck, died on October 25, 2018 at home.
Formerly Doris Elizabeth Lown, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Lown of Wey Road, Rhinebeck, born on June 28, 1925.
Doris attended school in Rhinebeck until graduating from Rhinebeck high school during WWII. She graduated from St. Luke’s Nursing School in Manhattan and spent most of her career in charge of the electroencephalograph (EEG) department at St. Luke’s Hospital. After retiring, Doris returned to Rhinebeck where she concentrated on restoring and beautifying the house and grounds of an old family home.
Doris and her former high school sweetheart, Dr. James William Murphy, were reunited after their 50th high school reunion and spent many loving years together. Dr. Murphy died in May of 2018.
Doris is survived by her siblings, Joan (Dottie) Schenkel of Medford, Long Island, Caroline Lown of New Hartford, New York, brother Thomas Lown of Rhinebeck; a sister-in-law Jean Lown of Smithtown, Long Island; step children Linda Linda Semanik of Hyde Park, Nancey Jackson of Charleston, South Carolina, Jacqueline Cacchio of Highland, New York, George (Bobby) Cacchio of Rhinebeck, Raymond (Jerry) Cacchio of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Moira Nackley of Boston, and Sean Murphy of Groton, Massachusetts.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter Catherine Hill and her beloved black standard poodle, Mya Bear Murphy.
Doris was predeceased by her brothers, David and William.
Services will be held at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Rhinebeck, NY on Monday October 29, 2018 at 1 PM.
Burial will follow in the Stone Church Cemetery.
