Emery Wilson Ruger, Jr.

Rhinebeck - Emery Wilson Ruger Jr., 68, a long time resident of Rhinebeck, passed away at Calvary Hospital on July 18, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 1, 1949, he was the son of Emery and Pearl Ruger.

 Emery worked as a General Contractor in Rhinebeck and was also a Town Assessor for 32 years.

Emery was a talented woodworker, drummer and guitarist. More recently, Emery worked in the recording studio in his home. He loved to help young musicians record their music.

Emery is survived by his wife Barbara (Tobin) Ruger of Rhinecbeck; his son Christian Ruger, his wife Rebecca, and their children Lilianna, Emma and Parker; his daughter Petra Ruger and her fiancé Sean Warman and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five siblings, Barbara, Pearl, Louis, Audrey and Gloria.

Calling hours will be held on Monday July 24th,  from 4 to 7 PM at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St. Rhinebeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Good Shepherd, Rhinebeck on Tuesday, July 25 at 11am.

Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in memory of Emery may be made to Calvary Hospital or Memorial Sloan Kettering.
