Lawrence Osgood Obituary

Lawrence Osgood died at age 89 on December 13, 2018 in Rhinebeck NY. Born in Buffalo NY to Ellen and Dr. Howard Osgood, Larry attended Nichols School and Harvard University.

Lawrence was pre-deceased by his brother John; he will be missed by his nieces Ellen Bush and Connie Petersen and their families.

He was a novelist, playwright, essayist, director, great story-teller, Arctic traveler who lived and worked with the Canadian Inuit; and a lover of music, literature, dogs, and great friends.

Ellen and Connie extend their gratitude to all his enthusiastic friends who filled his life, and to all his caretakers who helped him through his last months. A special thanks to Kate Orsulich and Amanda Henry.

Contributions in his name may be made to the Joan Tower Composition Scholarship Fund of Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY or the S.A.G.A. Organization of Nichols School, Buffalo NY.
