Alfred Shaw Obituary

Alfred “Chris” Shaw, 83 passed away on December 26, 2022, at his home.

Born on July 30, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he grew up on Rockefeller Lane in Red Hook, NY. He was the son of Alfred E. Shaw and Catherine (Schubert) Wold. He was married to Sherry Dapson, Rhinebeck, NY from 1965-1982.

He was a construction truck driver for Teamsters Local 445 for 31 years. He was a life member of the Red Hook-Rhinebeck Elks Lodge 2022 BPOE and a member of the Red Hook Boat Club.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Wayne) Sweller of Conway, SC; his grandson Brice Sweller of Conway, SC: a sister Terry Shaw, nephews Harold and William, and many cousins.

Chris was an avid hunter. He was known for his prowess at deer hunting and traveled to Maine and Canada to bear hunt. He also loved to fish and trap. Chris loved to go to his place in Indian Lake to hunt, fish, and enjoy the peacefulness.

There were no calling hours.

A private burial was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook, NY. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck, NY.

Chris made it known to Deborah that he wanted her to have a party in his memory in lieu of calling hours. To honor his wishes a memorial party is being held on Saturday, June 10th starting at 1pm at the Red-Hook-Rhinebeck Elks Lodge in Red Hook, NY.
