Obituary


Pine Plains – Anthony ‘Tony’ Peter Salerno, 25, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home.
Tony lived in Rhinebeck most of his young life and graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 2016.  He attended Pace University on a Presidential Scholarship, Dutchess Community College and the Culinary Institute of America where he honed his gifted culinary skills. He worked with his father at A. Salerno Contracting Corp., where he enjoyed the challenges of construction and interaction with clients. Tony had so many talents and interests. First and foremost, he was passionate about his devotion to family and friends. He enjoyed gourmet food experiences, travel, a wide range of music, and hikes with his two dogs, Riley and Charlotte. 
Tony was born May 2, 1997 in Rhinebeck; he is survived by his mother and step-father, Susan (Amato) and David Santora; and his father, Anthony A. Salerno.  Adored from his first breath, his loss is inestimable. 
In addition, Tony is survived by his brothers Ryan Amato and Gavin Salerno; step-sisters, Jessica and Christina Santora, and Sarah Rapuano; his maternal grandfather, Peter Amato; Aunts and Uncles, Christina and Lawrence Brody, Catherine Salerno, Kathleen and James Piscano, Russell and Shay Amato, Peter Amato, Erin and Robert Cordes, Jayme Watt, and Michelle Amato; cousins Leah Brody, Tyler, Lucas and Owen Amato, Trevor Amato, Michael and Olivia Piscano, Robbie, Christopher and Henry Cordes, and Andrew and Jada Watt.  He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his countless friends.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Margaret Salerno; maternal grandmother, Priscilla Amato; and his cousin, Billy Amato.
Calling hours are Thursday, August 25th, 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 West Market Street, Rhinebeck.   A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26th at 11:00 AM, at the Reformed Church of Rhinebeck, 6368 Route 9, Rhinebeck.
