Barbara R. Balint

Staatsburg – Barbara R. Balint, 89, a longtime resident of Staatsburg, passed away on June 7, 2023 at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Rhinecliff, NY on March 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Viola (Holsapple) Roome.

Barbara attended Rhinebeck Highschool, Class of 1952. She then went on to attend the Krissler Business Institute.

On September 21, 1957 at the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, she married John Balint. Mr. Balint passed away in 2009.

Barbara along with her husband John, was a member for many years of the St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Staatsburg. She served as a lector and acolyte.

Barbara loved old movies, sitting by the pool with a good book, and travelling.

She is survived by her son James D. and his wife Donna of Highland; her brother Gary F. Roome and his wife Doreen of Poughkeepsie; two nieces Melissa Seymour and her husband Tim and son Tyler as well as Andrea Osterhoudt and her husband David and children Mason and Kylie; a sister-in-law Adelaide Grenier; a brother-in-law Harold Balint and many cousins.

Calling Hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home on Friday June 9 from 4PM to 8PM, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Saturday June 10 at 11am, 2 E. Elm St., Staatsburg, NY 12580

Burial will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband John.
