Barbara K. Harrison, 90, a longtime resident of Rhinebeck and Red Hook, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 18, 2023 at The Baptist Home.
Born on April 21, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Horatio “Ray” and Dorothy (Martin) Knapp.
Barbara began her schooling in Poughkeepsie before moving to Ohio with her family during WWII. She moved to Rhinebeck in 1950.
On February 3, 1952, she married John H. Harrison “Jack” in Rhinebeck, NY. Mr. Harrison predeceased Barbara in 2002.
Barbara studied accounting at the Krissler Business Institute before working for Russell Fuel and Heating for 25 years. She also worked for Ruge’s Oldsmobile handling their accounts receivable in addition to working for the Elegant Villager for 27 years as a sales clerk.
She was skilled with needle point and enjoyed serving as a judge for many years at the Dutchess County Fair.
Barbara is survived by her close friends of Rhinebeck.
There are no calling hours.
A private service will be held at the Church of the Messiah where she had been a parishioner.
