Rhinebeck - Barbara L. Kinnee passed away on July 21, 2021 at home in Rhinebeck, N.Y. at the age of 96. She was born on December 25, 1924 at home in Harwood, N.D. to Henry Louis and Selma Julenne (Dovre) Grobey. The second child of seven. Moving to Washington State at age two. She graduated from Everett High School in 1942. She was an honor student and active in all major sports. She was a three year letterman.
Barbara married Wayne Kinnee in 1943. Together they welcomed three children, Linda, Bruce and Steve. They moved to Lebanon Oregon in 1947. She worked for Cascade Plywood Co. Moving to Eugene Oregon in 1954, she worked at Weyerhauser Co in Springfield, Oregon for 28 years in the invoicing department. She retired in 1983 as invoicing supervisor.
Barbara and Wayne played golf together. She shot a hole-in-one at McKenzie Golf Course in August 1986 with the ladies group.
Her passion for all needlework led to counted cross stitch and numerous blue ribbons at the Lane County Fairs.
Barbara and Wayne built their dream house on the McKenzie River in 1973. Here she hosted bridge games, family reunions and tended to their beautiful flower gardens. The dogwood tree her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her son Bruce in 1964, granddaughter Sara in 2013, and grandson Peter in 2019; and brothers and sisters: Alver, Norma, Alice, John, Selma Joann and Harold as well as her husband, Wayne on April 9, 2017.
She is survived by two children, Linda Vincent and Steve; three grandchildren Julenne (Dwight Mounts), Caitlin and Josh Kinnee; four great grandchildren: Ryan, Zoe and Luke and Finley; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in late September.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, Rhinebeck, NY.
