Charles F. Dionysius born August 11, 1939 to Charles and Nora Dionysius, left this world peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 5, 2021.
Charlie retired from Prudential Insurance in 1994 and retired from Daytop Village in 2010. He also worked for the Wiltse Brothers in Poughkeepsie. His most recent employment was at Tops Market in Rhinebeck, NY; a job he thrived and enjoyed immensely as “The Greeter” for the past months.
He was a former member of Harris Smith Post, the American Legion of Rhinebeck, and the Odd Fellow Lodge in Red Hook.
Charlie is survived by his daughter Tracey Ferreri (Christopher Ferreri) of Amenia, NY; son David Dionysius (Vanessa Dionysius) of Bellingham, WA; Lisa Szatko (John Szatko) of Rhinebeck, NY; Curtis Vellie of Rhinebeck, NY; Scott Vellie of Albany, NY; brother George Dionysius of Ephrata, PA; his beloved grandchildren, Marina, Nicholas, Desiree, Tara, Shane, Travis, and Kevin; as well as two great grandchildren with another one on the way; and his companion Leslie Lloyd of Rhinebeck.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen “Kitty” Dionysius on the same date, March 5, two years ago.
His last two years were spent at the Village Green Apartments in Rhinebeck, NY where he made many beautiful friendships that he cherished.
Special thanks to his doctors Amy Cocina and Radik Rochamala and staff who always enjoyed his visits, and to Dutchess County Hospice.
