Charles A Schreck, 77, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Rhinebeck on May 19, 2022.
Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Mabel (Prodo) and Charles Schreck.
After his childhood in Queens NY, Charlie lived in the area for the majority of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School and obtained an Associates degree in Engineering from the City University of New York. Later he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Marist College while working full time and caring for his 2 young children.
For many years he was a US Swimming Official and his other hobbies included fishing, playing pinochle and spending time with his family. Charlie could strike up a conversation with anyone and make a friend everywhere, but was best known for his incredulous laugh.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, June, with whom he shared a union of 54 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Karen (Scott) and Jean (Ed) as well as five grandchildren, Zachary, Lexi, Maxwell, Drew and Sophie. Charlie is also survived by his sister, Dorothy (Ronald).
Memorial Hours will be held from 3PM to 4PMon Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Rhinebeck.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to either a local chapter of the ASPCA or the Disabled American Veterans or the Food Bank at the Dutch Reformed Church in Rhinebeck.
