Christina Neils

Rhinebeck – Mrs. Christina E. Neils, beloved mother, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 after a long a illness.

Born in Gilbertsville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Frederic Evenson and Katherine Twidale Evenson. She was a graduate of St. Agnes School of Nursing and Paterson General School of Nursing both in Paterson New Jersey. She was an RN at Paterson General Hospital, Albany Medical and was the school nurse for Bard College. She later taught classes and supervised home health aides at DCC in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Christina was married on June 30, 1956 to the Reverend Leonard F. Neils at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, New York. Her father, the Reverend Frederic Evenson officiated the ceremony.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Leonard F. Neils and her brother, Elfric Evenson of Wayzata, Minnesota. She leaves behind two children, Katherine Neils and Christopher Neils, her daughter-in-law, May Neils, two grandchildren, Melissa and Andrew, two nephews, beloved Bill Evenson and Steven Neils, a niece, Cathy Neils, and several grandnieces and a grandnephew.

Christina’s life was one of love and devotion not only to her family, but to her community and those in need. Although she will truly be missed, we celebrate a life lived with joy, wit, and revelry in life’s beauty.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, New York.
