David Houlihan Obituary

In Loving Memory of David Houlihan

With great sorrow, we share the passing of David Houlihan, a man of quiet strength, on February 8, 2026, leaving an irreplaceable void and a legacy built on an enduring love for his family. David was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 8, 1940, to Henry and Emilie Houlihan. His first job was as an apprentice at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He served in the military, then worked for over 30 years at IBM.

In March 1967, he met the love of his life, Rosemarie. Their connection was instantaneous and undeniable; they were engaged within six weeks and married on September 3. 1967-six months from the day they met. For 58 years, they shared a life of total devotion.

His influence on his children and grandchildren was profound. He taught them the value of hard work, the importance of showing up for others, and the quiet power of a life well-lived. David was a pillar of his community, giving his time to the Lions Club, the Boy Scouts of America, and serving his condo community in various leadership roles. He was generous with his skills to anyone who needed help. His talents were boundless.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie; his treasured daughter, Christine; his loving and devoted son, Sean (Kim); and his cherished grandchildren, Katy (Spencer), Peter, Ryan, and Emme. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Doreen, and her family, and a large, loving circle of cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank aides Richard and Consolata for their compassionate and gentle care.

David's life was a gift, and his passing is an immeasurable loss.

If you wish, you may honor David's memory by supporting Hudson Valley Hospice, an organization that provided exceptional care during his last few months.
