David Regg Obituary

RHINEBECK- David A. Regg, 88, a lifelong resident of Rhinebeck, NY, passed away on March 22, 2022 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

 

Born in Red Hook, NY on February 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Carl and Catherine (Gruntler) Regg.

 

Dave worked at IBM before volunteering to serve in the U.S. Army where he honorably served during the Korean War in the DMZ. Upon returning home from the service, he met Muriel Fallon. They were married November 9, 1958 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrytown, NY.

 

He was partnered with Jim Dittmar for over 40 years with Dittmar and Regg Inc., Construction. They worked largely at Bard College building the campus and many of the facilities, among homes and renovations.

 

Dave was a lifelong member, former Director and the Past President of the Neighborhood Gun Club in Rhinebeck where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and all the club had to offer. He was able to be a part of the building of the new camp in Middleburgh, a true passion of his. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows in Red Hook, the Rhinebeck Fire Department, the NRA, and the American Legion Post #429.

 

He enjoyed vintage cars and car shows as well as watching NASCAR.

 

Dave is survived by his sister Carol Futyma of Poughkeepsie as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Muriel Regg in 2011, a sister Kathleen Barrett, and his brothers Edwin, Ronald, and Frederick.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Thomas Florio for being a great brother to Dave and to all his caring neighbors for their assistance.

 

Calling Hours will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home on Sunday March 27th from 4 PM to 7 PM with a service at 6:45 PM by the American Legion Post #429.

 

Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral home on Monday the 28th at 11 am with Rev. Mary Grace Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John’s Cemetery in Barrytown, NY.
