Dolores Putorti, 88, a lifelong resident of Rhinebeck, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Ferncliff Nursing Home.
Born in Rhinebeck, NY in 1935, she was a daughter of the late James and Lula Stone. After graduating from Rhinebeck High School in 1952, she graduated from the Teacher’s College at Plattsburg State in 1956. Dolores was a teacher in Pine Plains from 1957-1962 and a long-time substitute teacher at Rhinebeck High School. She remained involved in the Rhinebeck Retired Teachers Association and Rhinebeck Alumni Association after her retirement.
Dolores was a member of the Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, where she gifted the congregation with her beautiful singing voice in the choir for many years, along with her sisters. She greatly enjoyed music and participated in the Rhinebeck Legion Band and Rhinebeck Choral Club. She fondly remembered the Rhinebeck of her youth and was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Anthony Putorti; two children, Lorraine (Raymond) Ricci and Anthony (Patricia); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, James Jr. (Evelyn) and two sisters, Janet (Gordon) Cotting and Irene (Norman) Callaghan.
The funeral service celebrating her life and faith will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at noon at Rhinebeck United Methodist Church, 83 E Market St. Calling hours will be at the church from 11 am to noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Dolores can be made to the Rhinebeck Rescue Squad or a charity of one's choice.
