Eleanor Torcello Obituary

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of Eleanor Rose Torcello, who died peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Fairfield, Connecticut, at the age of 92.

Eleanor was born on January 28, 1933, in New York City to immigrant parents Alois Pehr of Hungary and Rose Pehr of Austria. She was raised in Roosevelt, Long Island, where she formed the roots of a life filled with warmth, creativity, humor, and love.

A proud graduate of Hempstead High School, Eleanor married her high school sweetheart, the late Reverend Leonard Thomas Torcello, Jr. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four children:

- Pamela (Torcello) and Wayne Fenelon of East Hampton, NY

- Judy (Torcello) and Richard Crouse of Pepperell, MA

- Michael and Kelly Torcello of Rhinebeck, NY

- Amy (Torcello) and Adam Deutsch of Fairfield, CT

Her devotion to her family was boundless. Eleanor was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her endless joy. She was the heart of the family—its compass, storyteller, and spark.

Eleanor was a woman of deep faith and boundless spirit. She had a passion for painting, a green thumb in the garden, and an irrepressible sense of humor that could light up any room. She was known for her loving nature, her animated storytelling (with just the right amount of exaggeration), and her gift for making people laugh when they needed it most. To know her was to feel loved, entertained, and embraced exactly as you were.
