Eleni H. Bartles

Eleni Bartles 74, of Rhinebeck passed away on August 19, 2020 in the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.

Services will be held at an undetermined date in the future.

Eleni was born in Maleme on the island of Crete, Greece to Dimitrios Hasanidis and Georgia Shetakis on February 28, 1946. She grew up in Athens, Greece and graduated from high school. It was in Athens where she met and married Donaldo Ricci, who was serving in the US Air Force. She then came to Groton, CT in 1967.  She later married Roy Hall of Hyde Park. She worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie for a short time. She married James Bartles of Rhinebeck in September of 1986. 

She was an avid bingo player and loved cooking, gardening and playing cards. She enjoyed watching videos with friends and family. She loved her house and spent much time decorating it. She was the consummate homemaker.

Eleni is preceded in death by her father c. 1947 (killed in the Greek Civil War), her mother 1992 and an older sister, Stella 2020.

Eleni is survived by James Bartles, her husband of 34 years, a son and daughter, Guy Ricci of New London CT and Mary (Ricci) Franklin and her husband Lynn Franklin of Norfolk VA, her brothers Petros Hasanidis and his wife Viki of Athens and Costa of Crete, two grandchildren Tara (Franklin) Ross and her husband Feldon Ross of Atlanta GA, and Sean Franklin, two nieces Christina Doyle and Maria Hasanidis and nephew Dimitrios Hasanidis, as well as her in-laws and many nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of family.
