Elizabeth (Betty) Louise P. Woods, 89, died Wednesday, January 12th, at The Baptist Home at Brookmeade. She was born November 20th, 1932 in Millerton, New York, the daughter of Arnold S. Pease and Francis Day Pease. She married Robert (Jack) Woods on October 7th, 1950, and the two were happily married for seventy-one years.
Betty was incredibly ambitious and wholly committed to her family. In her life she was the Bookkeeper for Western Printing, Up-to-Date, and Stamp Inc., as well as a Tax Preparer for H&R Block. Her true passion, however, was in her role as mother and caretaker, and so many have been blessed to have experienced her love. Betty was an inspiring sister to her seven siblings Arnold, Kay, Gerry, Shirley, Peggy, Howard, and Virginia. She was an adoring wife to her husband Jack, and a devoted mother to her four children Jack, Joey, Cheri, and Fred. Betty was strong, independent, and she always left a room happier than she found it. Her smile was contagious, her heart unmatched, and her mind wide open.
Throughout her life, Betty “Boop” Woods loved to travel with her husband Jack. They were fond of Lake Tahoe and Branson, Missouri, and of course Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also loved playing card games with her beloved grandchildren. Betty showed her love through her cooking of delicious food, and nobody was to go hungry with her around. Betty was never far from her husband Jack, her soulmate. They were a model couple with a marriage and family rooted in respect, commitment, and love.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Jack and son Joey, a brother Arnold and sisters Kay and Virginia. She is survived by her sisters Gerry, Shirley, and Peggy, and her brother Howard; a son Jack (Sheila) Woods, daughter Cheri (Frank) St. Amand/Woods, and son Fred (Barbara) Woods; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
