Gerald Smith Haskin

Gerald (Jerry) Smith Haskin, 95, formerly of Mayville, NY, passed away on April 5, 2020.

Born in Hartfield, NY on October 23, 1924 he was the son of the late Harold F. and Leola(Smith)Haskin.

Gerald served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946, where he was saw action in Peleliu and Okinawa, receiving a bronze star and the Purple Heart.

Gerald held many careers but served as a postman in Jamestown until his retirement. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Moose Club and later in life became an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marian Brace Haskin, whom he married on May 13, 1946.

He is also survived by his children William (Polly) of Kangaroo Valley Australia, Richard of Kingston NY, Cynthia of Poughkeepsie NY , James (Amy) Red hook NY his grandson Harrison and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his eldest son Thomas (Deena) in July 2011 and his sister Beverly (Haskin)Hedlund in Sept 2019.

A Memorial Service will be held in Mayville, NY at a future date.
