Rhinebeck - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother and boyfriend Jacob Berg.
He passed at his home on November 13, 2022. Jake was born in Berkeley CA on August 14, 1996, and with his family spent his early life in NYC before moving to Rhinebeck where he spent most of his life with his mother Katherine Clapp, his brother Charles and his girlfriend of the last six years Katya Iwasiutyn.
He graduated from Rhinebeck High School in 2014 and was working towards a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Binghamton.
Jake was a brilliant student of mathematics and computer science and had a knack for explaining the most complicated concepts in simple terms. He built software and developed stunning web applications. His technical innovations included building internal tools, creating design systems, solving complex problems, and much more. He was a voracious reader and an accomplished creative writer, author of rap lyrics, loved tennis, basketball, gardening, woodworking and taking care of his body through exercise, running and clean eating.
Jake was devoted to his family, his longtime girlfriend Katya and to his wide circle of boyhood friends in Rhinebeck and the extended family of friends he made anywhere he went.
He is survived by his mother Katherine Clapp, his brother Charles, girlfriend Katya Iwasiutyn, father Eric Berg, stepfather John Pease, grandparents David and Connie Clapp, Deede and Oliver Dominick, Lonnie Lane and John Berg, and his many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Jake’s life will be held at a later date.
