Rhinebeck – James T. Hendren, 95, died peacefully at the Thompson House on Monday April 18th surrounded by his family. James was born in Glasgow, Scotland on September 15th, 1926. He married Rena Richardone on May 8th, 1949 and shared 64 years together.
James was the son of the late Lewis and Margaret Hendren of Brooklyn, NY.
James had a long career at Shell Asiatic Petroleum in Rockefeller Center in NYC. He loved traveling and spent many summers at Lake Bomoseen, VT with his family. He was an avid reader and loved music of all kinds, and was a big baseball fan, especially the San Francisco Giants. He was a wonderful father and provider to his 4 children and his wife. He was the rock of the family and was always referred to as a gentleman. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia Hill of Rhinebeck, and her children, his grandchildren, Leslie Hill and her partner Jeffrey Miranda, both of Rhinecliff, NY, and Colin Hill and his partner, Jessie Lima and their daughter, Lilia Hill, Louann Huh and her husband, Mike Huh of Morgantown, W. Virginia, Susan Murray of Rhinebeck, NY and his son James M. Hendren, and his wife, Jennifer and their three children, Georgia, Reilly, and Jackson Grzywacz of Wilton, CT. James was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rena.
Calling hours are Thursday April 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 22nd at 2 PM, at the Good Shepherd Church, 94 E. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY. Interment will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
