Rhinebeck – Surrounded by his loving family, Jeffrey Michael Woods, 45, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018.
Jeff was born April 30, 1973 in Poughkeepsie to Michael and Ellen (Burnett) Woods. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in 1995. Following high school he became a widely respected and expert taper; owning and operating JM Woods Drywall. Jeff married Piper Hartshorn on June 18, 2005 at the Church of the Messiah, Rhinebeck. Together they created a beautiful family. Jeff was a loving father; adored by his daughters, Charlotte and Kate. He shared with his family and friends many adventures including his passion for fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, and four-wheeling. Recently Jeff attended Dutchess Community College, graduating in May 2017 With Honors in Engineering Science and Technologies. In 2016, Jeff was awarded a DUE Award for Academic Excellence in Physics and was accepted into an academic honor society. But above all, he was most proud of his girls, Piper, Charlotte, and Kate.
Jeff shall always be remembered as a strong, kind, and caring man. He is survived by his wife Piper; his cherished daughters Charlotte and Kate; his parents Michael and Ellen Woods of Clinton; his brother Kevin, his wife Lynne and their children Keira and Claudia (goddaughter); his brother Todd, his wife Katelyn and their children Bennett (godson) and Harper; his sister Allison Doughty, her husband Steven and their children Caroline and Logan; his mother-in-law Sue P. Hartshorn; brother-in-law Timothy Hartshorn, his wife Melissa and their children Lachlan and Skylar; and his godmother JoAnn Fahey. Jeff fostered life-long relationships and leaves behind numerous devoted friends and family.
Calling hours will be held Friday the 25th , 4 to 7 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY. Funeral services are Saturday, 11 AM at the Church of the Messiah, 6436 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck. Interment will be at the Rhinebeck Cemetery, 3 Mill Road.
At Jeff’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Piper for the future education and well-being of his girls. Contributions may be sent to Piper H. Woods, PO Box 231, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
