John R. 'Bob' Harrison Sr.

Red Hook – John R. ‘Bob’ Harrison, Sr., 93, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Bob served in the US Marine Corps from 1952-1954.  Upon his return he began his 36 year career with Central Hudson, retiring as a supervisor.  He was a member of Montgomery Post #429, Rhinebeck, and the Red Hook V.F.W. Post #7765.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Atchinson) Harrison; his daughter Nancy (Larry) Harrison Phillips; grandchildren, John (Sophia) and Will (Heather) Harrison, Greg (Brittany) and Katha (Garrett) Gatto; great grandchildren, Stella & Violet Harrison, and Griffin, Grant & Lila Gatto; and his nieces and nephews, Kimberly Friedman, Kelly Crowder, William Atchinson, and Robert Atchinson. 

He was preceded in death by his son John R. Harrison, Jr. on July 29, 2021; and his brother George I. Harrison.   

There are no calling hours.  Private committal services will be held with military honors at St. John’s Cemetery, Upper Red Hook.
