Rhinebeck – Joyce A. Magee, 93, a longtime resident of Rhinebeck, passed away in Star, NC, on May 20, 2024 after a short stay with her daughter Roberta and son-in-law Robert Graves.
Born in Saugerties (Quarryville), NY on January 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clarance and Helen A.E. (Rell) O’Bryon.
On September 12, 1948, in Saugerties, she married Robert C. Magee. Robert predeceased her in 2010.
Joyce was the Auxiliary President of the Hillside Firehouse, a member of the Montogomery American Legion Auxiliary #429 and a life member of the VFW #7765. She stood by her husband’s side as he was Lion’s Club Member.
For many years, Joyce volunteered with the Hyde Park Schools District where she proudly earned her GED. In addition, she was a school bus monitor, a Sunday School Teacher at Third Lutheran Church, and worked for many years at the Dutchess County Fair at various organizational booths.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Roberta Magee Graves and her husband Robert Graves; daughter-in-laws Sandy Magee and Mary Magee; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was a great mother and gave them her heart full of love.
A graveside service will be held at the Rhinebeck Cemetery at 1PM on June 7, 2024.
