Kathryn Hobson

It is with the utmost love and sadness, the children of Kathryn Hobson announce her passing on March 2nd, 2026 in Rhinebeck, NY.

She was the beloved wife of James Hobson (†), his true love for 63 years, mother to Karin Brodbeck (Ronald), Jennifer Brodbeck (Kenny), and Jeff Hobson (Tammy Crandall). She was the sister to Priscilla McComb (†) (Dennis) (†), Doris Hawley, Barbara Hansen (Edward) (†), Raymond (Jenny) Hawley, Sue (James) Miller and Meg Hawley. She was also the grandmother of Nikki (Yoshi), Sara (Mark), Eric (Amelia), Mark (Kaitlynn), Cassie, Ryan and Derek.

Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, her kindness, dedication, warmth and unwavering support touched the lives of those who knew her. Kathryn’s most coveted roles in life were wife, mother, sister, and Mema. As wife, she delighted in 63+ years with her favorite person on Earth, Jim. As a mother, she fiercely protected her “chickens’’. And as sister, she’d loyally provide support at the drop of a hat. Most importantly, as Mema she passed on these examples for the next generations to use. Therefore, her legacy will live on and she would’ve been so proud to have acknowledgement and appreciation for it.

A lifetime of memories held close to our hearts-of shared stories, celebrations, and moments of reflection—will endure as a testament to the impact of her life on her family and those who knew her. With this, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will accompany us always.

Kathryn will be laid to rest on Saturday 7th March, 2026 at 11am in Rhinebeck Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Kathryn's home following the burial.
