Kenneth Russell Obituary

Rhinebeck – Kenneth C. Russell, 72, passed away, Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his home in Rhinebeck surrounded by loved ones.

Born October 9, 1948 in Bronxville, NY, he was the son of Charles H. and Elizabeth (Schimko) Russell.

In addition to his mother, Ken is survived by his wife Brenda (Taylor) Russell of Rhinebeck; his children, Kaitlin Rodas (Byron), Jonathan Russell (Erin), Stacie Gogger (Michael Friedrich) and Steven Gogger (Becky); 9 grandchildren, Claire, Micah, and Micaiah Rodas, Natalie and Andrew Russell, Ava and Emily Friedrich, Cody and Owen Gogger; two sisters Kathy Yanek (Ken) and Patricia Cowell (Paul), as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Ken is also survived by his best friend and life-long hunting partner, Larry (Captain Lorenzo) Komenda.

Ken was predeceased by his dad Charles Russell and his brother James (Jimmy) Russell.

Ken was a licensed clinical social worker and took pride in treating clients at his private practice for many years, Catskill Family Institute-Counseling Center in Catskill NY. His educational accomplishments consisted of a Master of Social Work degree from Adelphi University; Master of Science in Education from SUNY New Paltz, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Marist College as well as permanent teaching certifications in Special Education and Mathematics.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman, a passionate hunter and fisherman who loved taking annual trips to Cape Cod, remote Maine and fishing trips to Costa Rica with his family and close friends. He also had treasured hunting adventures in Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming.

Ken was a life member of Neighbors’ Gun Club, Rhinebeck.

Memorial services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Neighbors’ Gun Club or Hillside Fire Department, Rhinebeck. Donations may also be made in Ken’s memory to the National Wild Turkey Federation, Northern Catskills Long Beards Chapter.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W Market St., Rhinebeck.
