Margaret T. Barton

Red Hook – Margaret T. Barton, 96, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 at home in Red Hook.

Margaret was born February 17, 1928 in Jackson Heights, NY; she was the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Lambe) Handibode.

Her Husband, James P. Barton, Jr., whom she married September 10, 1949, passed away November 8, 2003.

Margaret was a communicant of St. Christopher Church, Red Hook.

Margaret is survived by her children, James Barton of Scarsdale, Elizabeth Barton of Hyde Park and Maureen Barton of Red Hook; four grandchildren, Bruce Piggot, Connor Barton, Leigh Barton and Emma Barton; and 1 Great Grandson Patrick Ryan Barton. 

She was preceded in death by her son Patrick Barton on September 27, 2007.

Calling Hours are Tuesday, October 22nd, 9:30 to 10:30 AM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 11:00 AM, at St. Christopher Church, South Broadway, Red Hook.  Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Red Hook.
