Norman Rosenthal

Rhinebeck – Norman Rosenthal, 82, a lifetime resident of Rhinebeck, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 at the Baptist Home.

Born on March 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Mickey and Betty Rosenthal.

Growing up, Norman lived on Bulls Head Road. He helped his mom with the Lazy “R” Pony track which was a family-owned business.

After attending Rhinebeck Schools, Norman began working for the Dutchess County Fairgrounds as a Groundskeeper where he stayed for fifty years, making many friends along the way.

Norman is survived by his son his son Joseph “Buzz” Merchant, (Wendell NC) and his sister Cookie Smith (Florida).  Norman is also survived by his ex-wife Mary Merchant Palmateer (Rhinebeck), granddaughters Rhiannon & Journi Merchant, grandson Shay Merchant of NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was predeceased by sister Anita Amlong.  

There are no Calling Hours.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
