Philip Burgevin

Philip Burgevin, a longtime resident of the Rhinebeck area, Rhinecliff specifically, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 65. He will always be remembered for his artistry in the form of jewelry-making and metal casting, his love of drumming, and generous, friendly nature. Helping others brought Philip immense satisfaction. He found joy in working outdoors, particularly in splitting and sharing firewood with friends, family, and even those he’d just met.

Philip was predeceased by his father, Michael Burgevin, and his stepfather, Robert Loeber.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Loeber; his stepmother, Patricia Doyle Burgevin; his sisters, Michele, Renee, Jan, and Julie Burgevin; his beloved nieces and nephews—Joshua, Savannah, and Milena Cosenza, and Willem, Olivia, and Niklas Hallstein; as well as a wide circle of extended family, neighbors, and friends. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Dan Hanaburgh, whose friendship meant so much to him.

The family would like to thank the mental health community of Dutchess County for their many years of support, with special appreciation for the dedication and kindness of Brendan Conniff.

Philip's generous spirit and creative heart touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Gathering with family and friends will take place at The Woods Clubhouse, 35 Pond Dr., W, in Rhinebeck, NY on Monday July 14 from 5 PM to 7 PM. A Celebration of Life will begin at 6:30 PM. An altar space will be arranged to place photos, cards and mementos to honor our love for Philip, everyone is invited to contribute.
