Raymond H. Wyant Sr., 80, a former resident of Rhinebeck, passed away on Friday January 19, surrounded by his loving family.
A loving, caring, and humble man, Raymond never met a person he wasn’t willing to help. His enduring love for his family, friends and generous demeanor will be greatly missed by all.
He was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1994.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman; he loved camping, fishing and hunting. He served as Governor of the Moose Lodge #904 in Poughkeepsie from 1985-89 and again from 1990-91. In his earlier years he rebuilt and refurbished several antique planes at the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, where he also occasionally played the Keystone Cop.
Born in Rhinebeck on November 11, 1937, he was the son of George E. and Sarah (Simmons) Wyant Sr.
On October 28, 1956 he married Doris Fallon. Doris predeceased Raymond on June 4, 2005.
Raymond is survived by his children; Joanne, Roxanne, Ramona, Susan, Raymond Jr., Holly, Michael, Linda, Jenny, Robert and Rene. 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck, on Saturday January 27, at 3 PM.
Burial will be held at the Rhinebeck Cemetery later this spring.
